About

Volta Redonda Futebol Clube is a Brazilian multisport club based in Volta Redonda, in the south region of Rio de Janeiro state. It was founded on February 9, 1976, and its colors are yellow, black, and white. The club's major achievements include winning the 2024 Brazilian Championship Serie C and the 2016 Brazilian Championship Serie D titles. Since its founding in 1976, its greatest accomplishments have been in football. Its first titles came in the state second division, which it won in 1987 and 1990. During the 1990s, the club won three Rio de Janeiro State Cup titles in 1994, 1995, and 1999, two editions of the Interior Championship in 1994 and 1995, and a runner-up finish in the national Serie C in 1995. In the early 2000s, Volta Redonda secured its third second division title in 2004, a State Championship preliminary tournament title in 2005, and the Rio de Janeiro State Cup in 2007. During this period, the club was also the vice-champion of the state championship in 2005, reached the quarter-finals of the Copa do Brasil (Brazil Cup) in 2006, and won the Copa Finta Internacional, an official tournament organized by the Rio de Janeiro Football Federation in 2005, marking the club's first international title. The 2010s were highlighted by the club's greatest achievement at that time, the 2016 Serie D title, which it won against CSA in the final, remaining undefeated throughout the campaign. This made Volta Redonda the fourth Brazilian club in history to win a national title undefeated since 1971, when the competition adopted the name Brazilian Championship. In the same year, the club also won the Rio de Janeiro State Cup. In 2017, a star was added to Volta Redonda's crest in reference to the national title. Surpassing the 2016 national triumph, Volta Redonda became the 2024 Brazilian Championship Serie C champion by defeating Athletic-MG in the final. The club's all-time top scorer in official matches is striker Humberto, with 79 goals scored between 1990 and 2005, having also played for other clubs during this period. The player with the most appearances for Volta Redonda is Bruno Barra, still active in 2024 and approaching 400 matches. In 2011, Volta Redonda was honored by being featured in the Museum of Football in São Paulo as a recognition of its significance. It was the first club from the southern region of Rio de Janeiro state to be represented in the museum. Home stadium is the General Sílvio Raulino de Oliveira stadium, capacity 21,000.
